On February 24th, 2024, esteemed dignitaries came together to inaugurate the Millets and Groundnut Processing Unit in Ponnamaravathy, Pudukottai. This unit, funded by HDFC Parivartan, is now under the ownership and management of the Ponnamaravathy Kalanjia Jeevidam Farmers Producer Company Limited (FPCL), which is promoted by DHAN Foundation.
Equipped with cutting-edge machinery including a Ground Decorticator, Rooster, Millet De-stoner cum Grader, Millet Huller, and Oil Processing Machines, this processing unit marks a significant stride towards enhancing livelihoods of Pudukottai farming community. The Millet and Groundnut farmers in Pudukottai District are set to reap the benefits of these advanced processing capabilities. Moreover, over 20,000 members belonging to Kalanjiam, Vayalagam and Uzhavaragam of Pudukottai District will have access to superior quality Millet and oils produced by this Value Addition Unit.
