Survail Village Haat – DHAN’s Initiative
In August 2020, Survail Village witnessed a transformative event of inaugurating its Rural Haat by NABARD’s Telangana Chief General Manager, Smt. Susheela Chintala as a people business initiative of DHAN Foundation. It is a market space designed to provide better opportunities for rural producers to uplift the local economy.
The Rural Haat was created as a solution to the challenges faced by the local producers, who previously had to operate in the congested village center. The lack of basic facilities like rainproof sheds and a clean environment made it difficult for them to effectively market their goods. The new Haat offers a much-needed respite, providing a dedicated space with modern amenities that ensure a better platform for sellers.
A Hub of Economic Activity
The Rural Haat has quickly become a central hub for improving the local economy. Every Tuesday, the Haat comes alive with activity, serving the people from 11 surrounding Gram Panchayats. With 4,717 households in the vicinity, the Haat plays a vital role in providing essential vegetables and groceries to these families. The market boasts 40 stalls equipped with rainproof sheds within a compound wall, ensuring both producers and consumers alike opportunity to conduct their business with comfort. Additionally, the open areas outside the Haat are also utilized by the sellers, adding to the vibrant market atmosphere.
Present Status of the Haat
The success of the Survail Village Rural Haat is evident in the number of attendees to the haat. Each week, over 800 people visit the market between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, to enjoy the advantage of the fresh vegetables & Quality groceries. The impact on the local economy is significant, with an impressive average monthly turnover of ₹20 lakhs. This Rural Haat is not just a marketplace but a beacon of economic enhancement for the rural community.
