The Idukki Region organized a People Workshop at Peermade to understand the conditions of cardamom farmers and explore the potential of promoting a Jeevidam Federation. The workshop began with an orientation talk by Ms. K. Shanthi, who spoke about the Federation Collective and the need for Jeevidam Institution. Mr. Ananda Boopathy provided insights into community colleges, while Mr. S. Karthikeyan discussed people governance, collective marketing, and the potential of tapping into the national cardamom market.
The workshop included over 45 Kalanjiam members who participated actively. In the afternoon, the team, along with a few leaders, visited the SPICE Board Market to learn about the E-Auction process and explore opportunities for collaboration.
During the workshop, Kalanjiam members were divided into three sub-groups to discuss various topics, including cultivation practices, current marketing practices, and potential Jeevidam interventions in the cardamom business. The discussions aimed to identify ways to benefit Kalanjiam members through improved practices and support.
The detailed workshop findings and leads will be shared by the regional team members to further enhance the cardamom marketing practices and promote the Jeevidam Federation effectively.
