Business Management Programme on Jeevidam Basics for New Integrators

Organized by ACESE and CHRD for Jeevidam

The Advanced Centre for Enabling Social Enterprise (ACESE), in collaboration with the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), recently conducted a comprehensive three-day Business Management Programme (BMP) for newly appointed Jeevidam Integrators in FPO Locations . Held from August 28th to 30th, 2024, the training aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to effectively support and manage Jeevidam initiatives.

Program Highlights

The BMP curriculum was carefully designed to provide foundational understanding in key areas critical to Jeevidam’s mission:

  • Institutional Knowledge: Introduction to DHAN Foundation’s Mission & Vision, Collective Structure (Community Centric Institution).
  • Jeevidam Programme Components: Jeevidam as a livelihood initiative of DHAN, Overview of Jeevidam’s various Components, highlighting the Models, Introduction to PPGs, Cluster, and FPOs.
  • Consumer Mutuals: Understanding the role of consumer mutuals in the sustainability of FPOs and decentralized marketing.
  • Marketing: Practical insights into market linkages, value chains, and strategies to enhance the reach and impact of Jeevidam products and services.

Field Visit to Appan Thirupathi

A key component of the training was a field visit to Appan Thirupathi, where participants gained hands-on experience in Participatory Appraisal and Learning Methods (PALM). During this visit, they engaged in:

  • Social Mapping: Analyzing village demographics and understanding community relationships.
  • Resource Mapping: Identifying and documenting the village’s natural and human resources.
  • Timeline and Seasonal Mapping: Learning about the community’s history, seasonal patterns, and their influence on livelihoods.
  • Problem Tree Analysis: Identifying root causes of challenges faced by the community, facilitating a structured approach to problem-solving.

In another segment, the participants were encouraged to interview with people who are doing different kinds of livelihood activities like tailoring, fancy stores, small shops, flower shops ect. The participants asked many questions to analysis, how members are

This immersive field experience provided Integrators with practical tools for community assessment and participatory planning, equipping them to actively support Jeevidam’s mission of social enterprise development and community upliftment. The BMP initiative underscores ACESE and CHRD’s commitment to building capable, informed, and effective leaders within the Jeevidam network.
