In an effort to promote sustainable agricultural practices, Ilayankudi Vayalaga Jeevidam Farmers Producer Company Limited (FPCL) recently organized training sessions on Panchakavya preparation through its Farm Field School (FFS) program. Held across four villages in Ilayankudi Block, the training aimed to educate local farmers with the knowledge and skills to produce Panchakavya, a traditional organic growth enhancer known for its positive impact on soil health and crop productivity.
During each session, farmers learnt the step-by-step process for making Panchakavya, with hands-on demonstrations to ensure they could replicate the process independently. In each village, a total of 100 liters of Panchakavya was prepared and distributed among the members of the primary producer groups, allowing farmers to immediately apply it on their fields and observe its benefits firsthand.
To reinforce the training, Ilayankudi Vayalaga Jeevidam FPCL also developed an easy-to-follow pamphlet titled "How to Produce Panchakavya," printed in the local language for accessibility. This pamphlet was provided to members free of charge, ensuring that farmers have a reliable reference to support their ongoing practice of Panchakavya production.
This initiative not only encourages organic farming practices but also strengthens the knowledge base of local farmers, enabling them to reduce dependence on chemical inputs and improve the sustainability of their farming systems.
