Athoor Kalanjia Jeevidam Farmers Producer Company Limited (FPCL) recently organized a specialized training session on Fruits and Vegetable Value Addition for its members. Designed specifically for women farmers, this program aimed to equip participants with skills to transform surplus produce into market-ready products, thereby reducing wastage and opening new income opportunities.
Led by experts from the Home Science Department at Gandhigram University, the training covered a range of topics, including practical methods for preserving, processing, and packaging fruits and vegetables. Participants were introduced to techniques for creating value-added products such as jams, pickles, dried fruit, and vegetable snacks, with a focus on maintaining product quality and meeting market standards.
Additionally, the training offered insights into business development, guiding participants on how to turn value addition into a viable business model. The program emphasized identifying market demand, calculating costs and pricing, and exploring various marketing channels to effectively sell their products.
