To enhance institutional capacity and strengthen operational effectiveness, the Jeevidam Integrator and two Leaders (Board of Directors) of Walajabad Neithal Jeevidam FPO participated in a three-day leadership training programme at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Training Centre, Salem. The programme was designed to deepen the technical and managerial understanding of FPO leadership, enabling them to lead more resilient and market-ready farmer institutions.
The training covered core aspects of FPO management, including foundational operational functions and accounting systems tailored to FPO structures, with a strong focus on financial discipline and transparency. Participants also received exposure to post-harvest technologies and value-addition opportunities during sessions conducted at Periyar University, hosted through the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Marketing Training Centre.
In addition to classroom learning, the programme emphasized practical exposure and peer learning. The leadership team visited the Annaikavery FPO in Kolathur, Salem, gaining insights from a well-functioning producer organization, and also interacted with experts at the INSETI Agri Training Centre, Periyar University. These field visits offered real-world perspectives on effective governance, business operations, and market engagement.
Beyond technical learning, the training provided a valuable platform for networking with FPO leaders from across Tamil Nadu, helping build inter-FPO connections and shared learning. Overall, the programme strengthened the leadership’s confidence and preparedness to manage operations, finances, and market linkages more effectively, contributing to the long-term sustainability of the Walajabad Neithal Jeevidam FPO.
