During December 2025, maize marketing efforts were primarily concentrated at the Vathalagundu Kalanjia Jeevidam 10K Farmer Producer Company Limited, where maize serves as a critical input for the FPO’s value-added business operations. The focus remained on strengthening direct procurement systems to ensure quality raw material while securing fair prices for member farmers.
To maintain quality standards and build institutional trust, the Jeevidam Leaders at Vathalagundu undertook direct field visits to procure maize from member farmers, eliminating intermediaries from the supply chain. This approach not only ensured better price realization for farmers but also strengthened the FPO’s role as a reliable buyer. Maize continues to be a core raw material for the FPO’s industrial activities, contributing to nearly 30% of the ingredients used in cattle feed production.
In December alone, the Vathalagundu Jeevidam procured 2,450 kg of maize from a member farmers at Kannapatti adding to the earlier seasonal procurement of 2,949 kg between April and June. These efforts reflect a growing institutional capacity for commodity aggregation and internal value addition.
Beyond Vathalagundu, other locations are also identifying maize as a strategic crop. The Sedapatti Vayalaga Jeevidam Fed FPCL reported a significant annual maize production of 1,792 tonnes, positioning it as a priority commodity for future business expansion. As a next step, Sedapatti has planned demand collection for maize-based business activities, aiming to mobilize producers and strengthen collective marketing in the coming months.
